DEN <=> IND
ATKINS(3.24:2T) + HUNTER(3.86:2E) <=> TINSLEY(6.75:3)
後はBALKMAN(7/28トレード)ぐらいなものかと。
IND最低給の、McROBERTS(0.71)とGRAHAM(0.82)を受けて
KENYON / BALKMAN
NENE / ANDERSEN / JUWAN
George Karl told Denver reporters he laughed at the possibility.
"I don't think there's anything to it," Karl said.
Lakers' coach Phil Jackson didn't hold back on Thursday,
saying Lamar Odom was "not in shape" and "not ready to play."
Jackson appears to be setting Odom up for an off year,
although he did include Odom as one of the team's starters,
along with Kobe Bryant, Andrew Bynum, Pau Gasol and Derek Fisher.
But don't be surprised if Trevor Ariza ends up starting at small forward at
some point.
The hamstring injury Steve Blake suffered in Wednesday morning's practice
(which was initially called a cramp) was more serious than first thought
and could keep Blake out for an extended period of time.
"His leg is pretty sore,"
McMillan said.
"He's feeling a lot of pain right now and he's definitely out a few days.
I don't think this will recover fairly quickly."
If he aggravates the injury before the start of the season,
Brandon Roy could end up being your opening day starter at the point.
「STATERをGETだぜ!」
Calling him a "welcome addition," coach Michael Curry made official Saturday
what he's long been hinting at -- Amir Johnson,
as of now, is the Pistons' starting power forward.
"Amir does things without having to have the ball,"
Curry said.
"He's able to pick up baskets through his activity,
by running the floor and playing off the other four guys.
He does all the intangible things,
and through that he's able to create offensive opportunities for himself."
How long Johnson holds onto the spot is completely up to him.
"I am glad I got the opportunity,"
Johnson said.
"It's been a long time coming. I've been sitting on that bench for three
years.
I am ready to play."
Johnson, drafted No. 56 overall out of high school in 2005,
has never started a regular-season game for the Pistons.
He played in a career-high 62 games last season and in eight playoff games.
"I am comfortable out there now,"
he said.
"I've been playing with these guys for four years.
I play against all-stars in the summer in Vegas and in Los Angeles.
Now is my chance, and I am very excited."
Curry was careful not to make any direct comparisons to former Piston Ben
Wallace,
but he believes Johnson can bring some of the same intangibles to the
starting unit Wallace did.
"Ben could make a tremendous impact on a game without having any plays run
for him.
Amir is like Ben in that sense,"
Curry said.
"Amir can impact a game by how he rebounds,
he can impact on the speed in which we play,
offensively and defensively. His presence will be a welcome addition to
that group."
Johnson was flattered by the comparison, but like Curry, kept it in
perspective.
"I just do the little stuff, the garbage can stuff,"
he said.
"I get rebounds and putbacks.
I know the other guys like to shoot, so every miss I am going to try and
get every ball."
Johnson, at 6-feet-11, is heavier (230) and stronger than he's ever been,
but the worry has always been whether he could hold his position
defensively.
Curry doesn't share that worry.
"We tell him,
'The best way you can handle guys stronger than you
is to front the post and use your quickness,' "
Curry said.
"We just tell him to play to his strengths.
Most of the guys that are stronger than him are usually stronger than most
other guys, too.
He might not be as strong as some,
but they aren't going to be able to run with him or be as active as he is."
BILLUPS => 30 STUCKEY => 18
RIP => 25 STUCKEY => 13 => AFFLALO => 10
PRINCE => 25 RIP => 13 HERRMANN => 10
AMIR => 20 J-MAX => 13 DYESS => 10 PRINCE => 5
SHEED => 25 KWAME => 10 J-MAX => 10 DYESS => 3

My curiosity elevated when Kevin Pritchard answered my question Wednesday
before I’d had a chance to finish it.
I’d been repeatedly hearing the same name from team officials,
who said without hesitation that he was the most impressive player
during the Portland Trail Blazers’ workouts this month.
But with all the big names joining the team, it was far from the name I expected to hear.
I thought it would be Greg Oden,
who coaches said was showing no effects of his microfracture surgery.
Or perhaps Jerryd Bayless,
the rookie who was so impressive during summer league.
There are just so many players you expect could make big impressions this fall,
such as LaMarcus Aldridge or Martell Webster.
Players who are in the early stages of their careers
and can be expected to make enormous jumps in their growth curve.
So it was surprising to hear Pritchard confirm the player I hardly expected.
It was Steve Blake.
Yes, the point guard who has long been valued for being solid and consistent,
but less than spectacular.
The guy who started 78 games last season and left many people wondering
if he could raise his level of play to become the championship-caliber point guard the Blazers needed.
But Pritchard’s eyes focused intently as he spoke about Blake on Wednesday.
“He seems like a different player,”
Pritchard said.
“He’s definitely taken his game to a new level.
And he’s just so competitive right now.
I mean, he’s out there playing in pickup games like it’s the NBA Finals.
And I love it.”
It came as a shock largely because Blake is so easily overshadowed.
He is an established veteran on a team of up-and-coming youngsters.
Fans are eager to see Oden rattle the rim with his first slam,
or watch Rudy Fernandez flush a lob dunk.
They want to know if Bayless continues the explosive scoring potential
he showed in the summer,
or if LaMarcus Aldridge takes a next step toward becoming an All-Star.
Amidst that hype,
the more established Blake easily slips into the background.
He is entering his sixth year in the league
a time when players have generally shown what they can do, and spring few surprises.
Blake’s reputation is well established:
A solid, pass-first point guard who makes few mistakes,
but will also consistently pass up open shots and may not raise the overall level of his team’s play.
But this is also a different situation for Blake.
For the first time since his rookie and sophomore years,
Blake will be with the same team for consecutive seasons.
That consistency and grounding alone could make a difference in a player’s development.
Blake will also enter training camp as the established starter
another career first.
That relieves some of the pressure to prove himself,
and Pritchard said it is evident in Blake’s relaxed play.
He is just playing ball now, rather than thinking his way through each possession.
They may seem like small changes.
But a little stability and security has often made the difference
in helping players reach a higher level in their development.
And by all accounts, Blake may have taken that step.
“I think he is excited about the opportunity to lead this team,”
said Blazers coach Nate McMillan.
“And he’s at the head of it. He’s guiding it.
This is his show, and he knows he needs to improve certain areas.
And he’s doing it.”
But could he really be that different?
This is September, after all, not the end of a long road trip in January.
It’s easy to read too much into a player in pick-up games.
But at the same time, Blake has never grabbed much attention during the preseason.
He is an established commodity. We know what to expect, and don’t bother looking for more.
So hearing Pritchard say a week before training camp that
he is excited about Blake’s progress, and that he is prepared to have a great season,
holds a little more weight than with other players.
The progress may get overlooked next week when the newcomers grab all the attention in training camp.
But in the background, Blake may unveil an unexpected surprise.

"Wilcox battling virus:
Chris Wilcox, who started 55 games last season
before missing the final 14 games with a sprained right pinkie finger,
has been battling what could be a possible virus in recent days while in Houston.
When Wilcox spoke with Carlesimo on Wednesday morning,
he said he hasn't been feeling good the last few weeks.
"We're anxious to see him,”
Carlesimo said.
"First, we need to evaluate the finger, which I don't think will be a concern,
and then look at his conditioning.
The quicker we get him in condition and 100 percent physically,
no question that's going to be critical.”
